Me too... Ive logged about 200 miles on the GS and its my first bike. I still go slow as hell in turns but im getting better and so far so good. After tearing apart my bike (gaskets,carbs,clutch cable etc..) and then working on my friends 89 HD Springer softtail, i think i made the right decision for a learner.
