GS500M

I've had this bike for three months to the day and I love it so much. It's my first bike and I'm quite the tinker so I obviously had to do something with it.

Things I've done:
- Cut off the rear fender to make it look better
- Cut off the little bars along the sides (I'm guessing you strap a tote to them from each side?)
- Moved the license plate bracket
- Added the LED taillight w/ turn signals

Welcome

Where at in Florida are you? I am in Ft. Lauderdale

The brightness is great. The cover came smoked, so it looks good sitting still, but you can still see when I brake during the day just fine. At night, it's really bright and you can see it from a while away. I'll take some more tomorrow. The dealer is replacing my rear brake pads under warranty  :woohoo:

Here are some more pics of the back Steve:

And I took my exhaust off today  :D

And the dealer installed new rear brake pads, gratis.

very nice! thanks for the pics. looks great. i just ordered the light. hope to have it installed in a few weeks.

how did you remove the old blinkers? do they just screw off?

GS500M

Yeah just like the front turn signals. Get a box wrench or something to help you. And I ordered my taillight from Surfside Moto. It includes an LED that just goes over the housing for the old incandescent bulbs. I'll tear it apart later for others to see. It's by Clear Alternatives

i got mine on on ebay for $46 after shipping. we'll see.

GS500M

nice! i feel ripped now, I bought mine for $95 :/

StevenDavisPhoto

well maybe mine will suck and you'll see why u paid so much. haha. we'll see.

GS500M

I guess so. And also with removing my exhaust system today, I just hacked off the muffler and the bike sounds insane now.

Nice bike, GS. Tx for the pics. Peering under the seat of my 09 cld never really work out what happened at the rear end and have been too lazy to slip off the plastics. Yr pics really clarify the set up. Did Suzuki just make up this bike as they went along? That rear end metal work looks like something I'd concoct with a grinder, a tig, a few feet of square tubing and a couple of beers! Seems to work OK, though.

apparently my tail light is coming from hong kong. i'll hold on to the old stuff in case it breaks :P

GS500M

Oh man, Chinese huh? Mine came from Cali and I haven't had any problems with it.

I also just installed some clip on handlebars from Vortex. They are amazing. I'll post pics tomorrow

my tail light came in today, but there are no screw holes in the front of the light like the stock light, just the back. wondering if i can screw it in that way still?
