Voltmeter / thermometer / clock install - good place to tap for 12v

I found a good place to tap into power for 12v accessories you want to come on with the key. The parking light harness can easily be removed from the bike so you can tap some wires into it. I find this easier then trying to splice into wires that are still attached to bike (under the fairing or under the seat).

I added fuse because I plan on using a splitter and adding several other items here (GPS power cord, phone charger, maybe an extra LED driving light up front).

Then I added a matching JST connector to my voltmeter.

And mounted it with velcro.

Australian bikes dont have parking light and the head lights cant be turned off...

and as i just found out this system has a huge floor... government brought in that motorbike head lights had to be on at all times to make them easier to see, they didnt think.

i stopped to help a rider on the side of the road it was late at night and in the outback (no street lights) for us to get light i either had to leave my ignition on or the bike running both neither good for a GS i come up with. after almost getting side swiped by a car we get him going agian (his battery cable come off).

we need what they have in Europe where they have parking lights when you turn the key pass on.

The newer GS500's have the parking light. Don't know why the "F"'s in your area would have it removed.
Older ones do not have parking light in the front, even though the wiring is there for it!  They do have parking light in the rear and it is what illuminates the license plate.
I replaced the headlamp unit on Trey (and have one for Junior) I bought from Europe so I can have the parking light in the front. That's how I found the wiring was already there - just had to connect it!
If you can't locate the wiring for the front parking light, use the wire for the rear license plate/parking light. Its the 3rd wire to the tail that makes the tail light be on all the time. (Other 2 wires are ground and brake.)

very nice is it water proof

Its not waterproof. But its tucked under the shield, I'm not worried about it in anything other than a downpour. If I have to leave the bike out in the rain I might pop the meter off the velcro mount and store it someplace.

Here is the GPS power cord, made from a broken USB phone charger.

And the cigarette lighter splitter that will be inside my tank bag. This will charge my (battery sucking android) phone and maybe later a radar detector or other radio/audio devices.
