Huge engine braking means it needs a slipper clutch.  Why it doesn't have one is anyone's guess since they've been around for years.  Nice bike, though.  The rest I'm completely confused about.  You weren't sure where your wife went, you complained about the wind so she said you won't drop it, so you bought a naked bike with no windshield.  Clear as mud!  :D
V&H pipes, K&N drop-in, seat by KnoPlace.com, 17/39 sprockets, matching grips, fenderectomy, short signals, new mirrors - 10 scariest words: "I'm here from the government and I'm here to help!"

very nice. but no windshield, what about this wind you refer to?

Hopefully the GS500 sells quickly, but there isn't much for commuter bikes on the market right now...prime time in my view...I'm hoping to get what I paid for it...we'll see...

Not a chance, I saw what you told your wife!  Must be something wrong with your GS, or you have 60kmh head winds.   I'll give you $1000 for it, since it's obviously defective!  :tongue2:

Because it's not a race bike, and it's just as easy for people in normal riding situations to do some rev matching when they down shift. With how sweet that bike sounds, I don't assume he's going to have any hesitation to blip the throttle every time he needs to drop a gear.

Just as clarification to the "mud"...I don't really pay attention to the exact name of the event she is taking part in...religion retreat for teachers from Thursday to Sunday...all I hear is I'll be back on Sunday...as for the wind issue...solved...

As for the engine braking issue...tt_four is right...blip the throttle, down shift and let out the clutch...wicked bark and crackle...

No dice...this is Canada...$1000 will get you a nice down payment on a working bike... :flipoff:

I'm just updating the pics of the bike online...had one bite, but no show...I put the add in on Sunday...should have waited until Thursday...it will go...

Maybe it's an optical illusions but the bottom of the forks looks like it bends in towards the bike and is not inline with the top of the fork. Putting a piece of paper to the monitor and lining it up with the inside of the bottom fork the line goes to the forward part of the top fork.

Besides that, looks beefy!  :thumb:

Sounds like it works for you, and that's all that really matters.

Good to see you're still lurking around in here...you still riding wifey's GS, or are you back on your own wheels?

And what do you mean "...even if I don't like the MT..."  :cookoo:

I did hear somewhere that the looks aren't for everyone, but I thought they were joking   :icon_mrgreen:

I've always liked the nekid bikes, and I really like the sound of a V twin (not straight pipes though, the crackle sounds cheap to me)...reminds me of a V8 engine...but with the gas prices going up, I'll stick with the twin...one of the first bikes that I really had a hard on for was the Suzuki VX800, I didn't know the difference between the V twin and an inline 4 but I knew I liked the looks of that bike...

I think 5thAve got it right...camera lens and angle...it must fisheye a little... :thumb:

Sick bike!!! Although i think the wind shield and tank bag ruin the lines..... Get some bar ends too and chop the fender. Im a minimalist at heart. The shields in front of the lowers forks can go too  :) Still, that thing looks like a blast, im glad you finally got it after so long.

The for tubes at the bottom triple clamp are probably wider than the top, so depending on which side you're looking at it will look like the forks are curving at a weird angle. USD forks are rarely the same diameter the whole way down.

I'm missing the fuel range of my GS...214kms (134miles) and I ran dry yesterday...luckily I was just turning into the gas station, so I just coasted to the pump...if you're gonna run out, that's the place to do it... :icon_mrgreen:

Other than that, the bike is an absolute blast to ride...a total beast...but way fun!!

Still no bites on my GS, but it's only Thursday...so I'm expecting to get calls on the weekend...except the weather is supposed to be sucky...that won't help...

Maybe I can just move the GS to the back yard, in the shed...then wifey won't see it everyday...out of sight, out of mind...would be nice to have both!!

Sold the GS and she got an FZ6R. Just working on lowering it for her. My VFR is still waiting for me to put on a new chain and sprockets and either new front rotors or a different set of wheels. Not sure which way to go yet ~ the rotors are from a Ducati 'R' model so a little difficult to find without paying megabucks. But I could ride it as is if I felt like it. Just barely nice enough to ride these days, and nowhere really worth going around here so not in a huge hurry. Probably moving, and helping old relatives move as well (including packing) so doubt 2011 will be a big year for riding.
