Hey guys,
My GS's battery keeps dieing if it is left to sit for a day or more. My best guess is that the regulator is busted. I really don't want to pay the $95 for a new one. Anyone have an old working one?

Thanks

jp

I would replace the battery before the RR.

The battery was brand new last fall. I will admit that I did forget to disconnect it before I stored the bike for the winter though. I don't think it is a battery problem because if I charge the battery off the bike it will work fine as long as I run it every day. If the let the bike sit for a day the battery will be completely dead in the morning.

sounds like the battery is dead. it will still work like you mentioned but i think it's lost all its capacity

You could have a short to ground too. The R/R does not play a part once the bike is turned off.
The other thing - on the xs650 site there is some plans for using a few radioshack parts to replace the R/R. Google it.
Cool.

I'll try test to see if I can find a short anywhere and then buy a new battery.

Thanks guys.
