I'm replacing my fraying clutch cable with a new one, and when I called my local bike shop looking for lube they suggested I try Dri-slide graphite based lubricant instead of an oil based one. I've never used this product before and can't seem to find any reviews online, has anybody here tried it? Thanks.

Pretty much the same as any other graphite dry lube, just a different brand.I've never used graphite.I use silicone based lubes.

Gotcha. The guy said the main benefit of using a dry lube is that it doesn't attract dirt the way a liquid based one would, any truth to that or is just trying to sell me a $15 can of lube?

It's true, a dry graphite spray wont attract dirt. But technically, you shouldn't get a lot of dirt inside re cables.

I haven't tried a dry one. Trey did have sticky clutch cable. I sprayed some liquid lube at the top and after a few days it ran down through the whole cable and now feels fine. I don't think a dry lube would work its way down the entire cable. Just my 3 cents worth (inflation, you know)

That would be true and it also doesn't hold dirt as well as a gummy liquid lube.

BTW, this is the only place we can talk about lubes without someones dirty mind going astray.  :D

I was wondering about it's ability to actually flow into the cable, apparently it's in an alcohol base that evaporates pretty easily, so it flows and then the liquid dries up leaving behind the graphite.

Yes and don't forget to work the cables as you lube them.
