Hey guys on my GS500 the black parts at the very end of the handle bars are lose i know there is a screw there for tightening them but it does not appear to do anything. Does anyone know how i can fix this? Thanks

Jimbob

Just to clarify its the bar end weight that is lose

Twisted

Try taking them off and wrapping a bit of fine grade sand paper around the rubber bush. Insert and try and re-tighten.

yeah your right i just took them out it has that rubber bit and another bolt on the other end which enables you to tighten it and hold them in place. Thanks for your help :)

The nut may have come off the inside. Pull them pout and check. If the nut is missing, use a magnet on a wire to reach down in the handlebars and retrieve the nuts. If the nut is there, tighten things up a little before putting back in so there is some friction on the inner nut and it tightens as you screw it in.

They should be like this:

After you put them back together, a slight bit of grease can help shove them back in then tighten up the screw so the inner nut tightens and squishes the rubber bushing. Then they will stay on tight.
