I need a new battery as the one I bought last year died horribly. Any suggestions on which battery to get? I remember the  cheapest one I could get was somewhere in the $50 range, but was told it would last me only for a short time.  Maybe they were trying to get me to buy the more expensive model?  :icon_confused:

That Scorpion battery will be my next one, right after my 2+ year old ES12BS dies.  (No sign of failure yet.  But beware that the ES12BS will not fit right in.)

The OEM battery ( no maintenance- sealed ) on my CB-250 Nighthawk lasted for 8 years, the replacement Scorpion didn't last two, and that's with exactly the same treatment. Also, I'm wondering why in this day and age my 2008 GS-500 came from the factory with a cell caps distilled water vent tube battery, which by the way is still hanging in there---but still, why not a maint free sealed?

Is my GS a fluke or do all the F models come with non maint free batteries?
I'm not a racist, some of my best friends are you people.

My K9 has the older type - caps - battery. I think, for a company Mass producing, they are cheaper. Maybe not by much but when you make several Thousand the savings really add up.

I replaced my 6 year old OEM battery with a MotoBatt MB10U from Impact Battery in February. No complaints yet. It's a sealed lead acid (absorbed glass mat) type battery, and the spec sheet is more impressive than that of the battery I replaced. 175 cold cranking amps and 14.5 Amp*Hours (MotoBatt MB10U) versus 160 CCA and 2 Amp*Hours (Yuasa YB10L-A2).

The everstart batteries at Walmart has been a good batteries for me.  Save your receipt and if it gives you any trouble take it back to Wallyworld and get another one.
