Today I was on my way home from work and I was speeding alittle 75 in a 55 . Then I drove by a cop and he hit his brakes and lights , I was like shaZam! and my instict told me to floor it . So I did , passed the two cars I was following I then asked myself what the hell I was thinking and decided to pull over . I waited for quite a while before the cop got to me . And it was one of my friends he was like what the hell you thinking , I dont have a license yet , I replied . He did praise me for deciding to stop and said he would let me go on the felony evasion . But he said that I was very lucky that I stopped because they already had the road blocked at the other end and if that cop would have got me there was nothing he could do to help me . So I did get to tickets one for the speed and one for driving out of class . I think I learned my lesson . So if you only have a permit and you are going to get pulled over just pull over , and save your self , and extra really bad ticket .

I'd like to call you a Farking Idiot however I too was once young and dumb....Ran from the Cops 3 times on my GIXXER's, a real stupid and harrowing experience, that I would never do again because I could have killed myself or....Wait for it......Killed someone else(Don't ya hate when people say this) but was lucky enough to escape without hurting myself or anyone else. One of the last times I got "Lighted" I thought "It's On" yet made the instant decision to just quickly pull over. Officer said Geez, what fun are you I thought you were going to run....I replied I'm on my way to work, it's dark out, and that would be stupid....He didn't give me a ticket, just a warning.

Bottom line, don't run it's not worth, and running or thinking about it on a GS, seriously dude?

Yea there was absalutly no thought involved until just before I stopped , I really have no desire to run from cops or hurt anyone else or myself . I'm 34 and a professional mechanic I need my license for work , I didn't think I was speeding to bad , there was a car in front of me and one behind me . I wasn't going to go into it to much but the car behind me kinda cost me these tickets , I was trying to pass and he sped up and I couldn't just give up . And at the intersection there was a car in front of him and I think he did the same thing to them because when they stopped the pass got out and was just a bitching and pionting her fingure at the guy . Anyway I have taken responsablity for my actions . :embarassed:

Thanks for making a good decision.   It's good for you ... and it looks good on the rest of us too.  And we like having GSTwinners come home safe at the end of the day.   :thumb:

Yeah... Gotta say bad move, especially on a GS. If you were on a tight, twisty road, with no outlets and broad daylight, knowing that there were no :police: on the other end, I would say if you think your a good enough rider to outride him, go for it, but you can't ever outrun the radio and on a freeway... forget it.

jebz240

Its illegal in several for Police to pursue motorcycles at high speeds due to the amount of deaths its caused.

jeffdodge

Even the top speed of a GS is below what they would consider a high speed chase haha

They won't stop them though. A lot of cops are testosterone junkies.

Either way, I've been there before.  You know it's a bad idea, and it's not something you would normally do, and without even time to think you realize your right wrist has the throttle pinned and by the time you see you're passing cars and there's a cop chasing you all you can do is wish that you had quietly pulled over, but know that if you think of stopping now you're guaranteed a trip to jail. I did it once when I was young and have no intentions of ever doing it again.

Can we see the video on "Worlds Dumbest Drivers" on cable channel "True TV"?
I guess pulling over means you aren't dumb enough for that show. Had you hit the roadblock - well, that would have been interesting.
(It funny to see the vid where the squids use their gsxr to spin a playground merry-go-round and one guy flys off! It was on again tonight.)

So there I am, Driving. I'm doing 65 (apparently) in a 60 zone. I see the cops with their radar, no problem, right?

Just as I am going past them one of them waves at me to stop. I pull up casually reverse back. He walks over shows me the 65 on the radar gun. I'm like, yeah, you pulled me over for doing 65 in a 60? he says "no, this is a 50". No way, that road I came off was 60 and there was no sign saying 50. He informs me, that when there is no sign it automatically defaults back to 50 limit (this is true as I have since verified). So he did me for doing 15 over limit. Wouldn't drop it to 10 over. So there goes $200 and 3 points off my license. Man, I haven't been booked in 10 years.

Funny thing, when I was paying the fine at the transport dept - who decide the speed limits - the lady behind the counter asked me about the location cause she travels that road on the way to work and on the way home and wanted to know of any new trap locations. Turns out she thought it was 60 too!

Oh well, c'est la vie.

I absolutely hate stupid rules that say things like when there is no sign it defaults back 50. They are just traps. Speeds change so often in the cities these days and none of it follows the rules. I would personally write to the ombudsman about such a place. Hey they want to change the speed so often for "safety" they can do it properly. And I feel for your points...

Toogoofy317

Hey I-4 has electronic signs that  change all the time  :cookoo: But, when I saw the sign officer it said 55  :police: not when I saw it! I have seen it as low as 40 on a major interstate! I avoid that road as much as I can. It has been over 10 years since I had a speeding ticket. Now that I've said it tomorrow I will get one.  :bs:

But, yeah dude that was pretty dumb! While OPD does have a no pursuit policy on motorcycles they do have new cameras in the cars that can capture and read your license plate. You can bet the house they will be waiting for you when you get home! But, also know that in Orlando it is not just OPD jurisdiction you also got Orange County and FHP and they will stop stick you in a heart beat!

OT a little I rode Flick for the first time today. I think a wanna be Lance Armstrong was flying down SR50 and lane split me. I was in slow traffic and had popped in neutral to stretch my shoulder. I almost nailed this guy flying in the middle of the lanes! I'm sure those carbon fiber knucks woulda felt great at that speed! I'm glad I didn't hit him because it was the bad shoulder side! How Dumb!

Should have hit the Foocker....I hate bicyclists and their owning the road mentality.

You know I would have understood it if he was in the actual bicycle lane but I was in the far left lane and he was flying right through the two lanes. Blew through the red light he was going faster than the posted 30 mph speed limit. Where is  :police: when you need one! No helmet either!

Aha, of course there has to be one of these threads..

I too am lucky, the second week of having my GS I decided to take the fiance on the back for a trip to maccas about 10pm at night. Thought to myself, it's a weeknight and it's late surely not..
First major intersection outside my suburb had a cop sitting right at the bloody light watching us go past and sees my P plate (whoops..). Now technically it is possible to be on Green P's and be legally allowed to carry a pillion in Australia (given the right timing and circumstances) but it's unlikely and unfortunately that's not me...

So the cop makes an illegal left turn through the intersection as he's already about to go straight (instead of the bypass lane) and follows me, probably to run my plate -> grab my license -> check for pillion.
I'm in two minds... outrun him, but don't speed you'll be f****d. So i'm holding 72kph flat in a 70 and take the first left I get to. I'd never been down that road and turns out it leads into a small block that goes right way around a loop with streets coming off. I see him turn in and follow me, so I give it heaps coming into a roundabout and I'm gone. Unfortunately like I said i hadn't been down there and it turned out was a one way in, one way out kinda deal. I pulled down one of the side streets down the end around a corner and out of sight, and turned the bike off and just waited a few minutes. Saw the lights cross down the end of the street as he went passed. I got out of a ticket but I think I'll wait until its legal next time..

I like how you quoted the Police Officer doing something illegal....Yup, he has no right to make a prudent decision in order to catch someone doing something illegal. Good luck to you though, and seems like you got it out of your system.
