After 135,000 miles. my trusty old GS finally died, In quite a spectacular fasion. Broken con rod, smashed piston, cunks taken out the crank.... Its totalled the engine.....

A local dealer had one in part ex, no MOT, for a cheap trade sale, so I make a silly small offer and get the bike with no warranty. I had heard it running before this point and with 22k on the clock it sounded lovely.

Now the problems began, In removing the engine, I craked the alloy around the front engine mount........ Is there a way to repair this other than stripping both engines and swapping the top crankcase? I dont want to do this as there is nothing wrong with this engine and it runs suberbly.....

I feel your pain, had to drill my front mount bolt out recently.I`d suggest finding someone that can weld ally`.As there is no top mount above cylinder its not a job for chemical metal, and swapping crankcases would be a bit of a pain, new gaskets, camchain? Still amazing milage on old motor.
