Ok I have two questions:

1. I just hooked up a battery to my 1990 gs500e for the first time in at least 5 years and all the lights turn on execpt the left rear turn singal which is prolly a bulb but my question is why wont the left side turn singnal blink? the front will light up but not blink and when i turn the right side turn singals on theres this grinding/buzzing noise in the clicker thing before it will start blinking :dunno_black:

2. the seat is always loose as hell in the front by the gas tank. i can move it left and right prlly 2 or 3 inches each way. its on it latch and it locked down yet it still does that, i have no idea what it is but i dont think its safe at all once i get it out on the road.

so i you can help me out with these two that would be awesome

On the blinkers question I had that problem on a different bike and it turns out I had a connector come loose so check to make sure that all the wires in the rear are connected.

Are you sure the battery is fully charged? I think I've heard turn signal relays make a similar noise when the battery is low.

And for the left side not flashing - troubleshoot one thing at a time - replace the bulb and then see if the flasher starts working.

Sounds to me like the wiring is hooked up incorrectly if it's staying on when power is applied.

yeah the battery is junk just got it in there to complete the circuit, but its weird since the right side works and the left doesnt

It's been a while, but I seem to recall that lights don't blink when a bulb is burnt out. Make sure you have working bulbs and a battery with good charge. Then if still no blinking we can trouble shoot that separately. One thing at a time is much better.

There is a tongue sticking out from the front of the seat that goes under the seat catch that is mounted to the tank. If something is missing there or the seat is not put on correctly, it can slide around.
Note the plastic piece sticking out to the left in the bottom photo (yes, 2 rubber bumpers are missing). If that is broken or not inserted into the seat catch under the tank, the front of the seat can slide around.
