Can anyone confirm what there might be for?

I found 4 or so of them inside the sprocket cover after i took it off. I was thinking they might have been on the bolts that hold the cover on but did not see anything on the part fiches. Only thing I saw was an oring on the shifter shaft that resembled it but didnt know what there would be 4.

Thanks!

They are there to tell you to shop for a new chain (and probably sprockets) ASAP.

Those sure look like chain o-rings, and if they are leaving the chain the chain will be leaving this world soon enough. Given that they have a nasty habit of wrapping around things and locking up the rear wheel, you may not really want to ride until it breaks.

Have you learned the lessons only of those who admired you, and were tender with you, and stood aside for you? Have you not learned great lessons from those who braced themselves against you, and disputed passage with you?

One of them looks like a "C" ring to me.  That would be the first clue  :  )

haha, ok thanks a lot everyone! I didnt even think of that. I honestly dont know what type chain is, I have had the bike since 9300 miles or so and am now at 12500. Dont know if the PO ever changed it or anything. The timing seems perfect though, I just ordered a larger rear sprocket and was planning on buy a new front sprocket and longer chain to match so I guess its good that it happened now.

Can anyone recommend a new chain?

DID X-ring, personally. But I haven't really tried any great number of chains, since I used to ride shafties.
