OK this is pretty much a sign I am getting old. And worse yet, my wife ... well her story is worse.

So a month ago a cop pulls me over for switching lanes and switching back rather midway through the lane switch. Its like 9pm on a back road. Guess what, the guy doesn't ask for Licence/registration, and worse yet, doesn't even give me a warning. He just asked me why I switched lanes and then switched back ... that was it, no "do you know why I stopped you" ... nothing. I said well U didn't know 2 lanes were turning left and 1 went straight, and when I got to that lane I figured it was turning left, so I went back cos I wanted to go straight ... and dang it 1/2 way through the answer he said, well take care and be safe and walked back ... I went, you dont want to see licence and registration ... he said dont worry and went back ... I was like WTF. No warning, nothing.
Then today the wife rolls through a stop, cop stops her, finds that her licence shows as invalid ... and she ... well he lets her go, no ticket no warning and he gives the licence back to her and tells her to get it sorted out immediately.

So @ some point I stopped being the menace to society I have been struggling so hard to become. Sad day really. The wife too very sad once I told her she's getting middle aged. I even asked her if she flashed her cleavage ... and she said "yes" and the cop said "maaam please dont do that. Now I need to wash my eyes with peroxide"

Cool.

I got pulled over the other day with the workboat  in tow - Not for any violation....the Officer asked if we did a certain kind of work he needed done (Marine construction). We don't but I gave him a reference... didn't care - I was on the clock and wasn't getting a ticket...

My last 5 times getting pulled over have all been warnings...  Well that includes the cop shopping too...so 4 times now...I'm always cool with them when I get pulled over - and I'm sure my attitude has played a part in not getting tickets ( and my clean record) .

The one time I was literally coming from the DMV (ok I stopped after the dmv to get breakfast) and had just put my new registration stickers on the truck.  Unmarked ran right up to my bumper ( I was tempted to brake check but saw the cop haircut ) and pulled me over.  Two more  units pulled up before he came to my door- (gave me a lot of "respect" eh...?) - Said my tags weren't current- I said here's my registration  and the receipt from 40 minutes ago....
"Have a nice day..."

Well Buddha...maybe they just figured out how innocuous you actually are...heheh...

funny thing is. an unmarked cop car is basically a regular cop car sans stickers. bristling with antennae and lights but no decals. the one i drove when i worked for SO was as plain as my ex leo p71 but my license plave didnt say Govt service. it was a regular tn tag. sans the anderson county decal

The time I got pulld over for the tags (  the almost  brake check time..) --Dodge intrepid...champagne color with a Lei hanging from the mirror....no big antennae-plus he ran up behind  me... They run all kinds of models around here to be sneaky ( started the last few years..).

what tehy needed to do here. mine was a white crown vic minus decals. errm thank you capt obvious lol. then htey started using regular joe licens plates. sans county sticker. another obvious ones. i suggested once. they ought to take the cars they get in confiscation runs that the courts award to them, aka they win case, and use those. we had tried that. 2 weeks later officer wraps a saleen mustang around a light pole. lol  :technical: but still in most locations out of teh 15 cars a dept might get, one or 2 or maybe 3 might be worthy of pursuit capable units. rest as decoys we had an OLD camaro. 86 iroc that we had lit up. hidden bars and everythign. that guy would catch racers lol. county atty. advised no entrapment or anything. cop really never wrote any tickets. save for a couple. but hed "race" someone, then fall backand light them up. OR another officer would be up the road a ways and get them both. to save face. or to not blow cover

scratch

White helmet, no tickee.

Yesterday, I even played around behind the sheriff...slowed down below the speed limit, let the sheriff get ahead, speed up for the turns after he disappears around the bend...

Its terriable but cops do decide what to do based on age. When the zed was mobile it would get pulled over with all the other younger hoons and as soon as they saw me I'd get waved on while a P plater would get book thrown at them. Doesn't help that the cops here don't know what is legit on older cars and isn't too. Had one open the bonnet once and stare at the engine, look at his partner who shrugged they closed it and sent me on my way. At the time I had not long cleaned all the pollution gear off, blocked up where is had been and in general tidied the engine bay up. So there was allot missing that should have been there.
Admittedly as a sign of my age, in its rebuild I'm doing it all according to the VSIs. It will be 100% legit sadly.
