"Vintage" Yoshi Exhaust

I bought SlimKlim's old bike off a non member a couple months ago and have been thinking about changing out the exhaust for something in nicer condition.  The thing is that I've never seen another exhaust like this so I don't know if it's rare or just really crappy/homemade.  I would consider getting rid of it or trading it once I understand what it is.  Condition is that the can is scraped, there was a small leak after where the pipes "y" together that was wrapped with muffler tape, and the flanges are bent front someone over tightening them.  It's loud.  Located in Rochester, NY.  Shipping, maybe if I have to.
