Im about to install pod filters and jetting, just one question. Does the airbox support the carbs, if so when i remove the airbox to install the pods what is the reccomended way to support the carbs?
For the first approach you will think this is a crazy sport, but at the end of the day its not that crazy. -Max Biaggi

I guess they do support them somewhat, but it's fine to remove it and stick on the pods.  The boots between the carbs and engine will do fine.

Until about a year ago I'd have thought that this was a dumb question cos I have run several 1000 miles with pods.
However Its recently become an issue.
Suzuki updated the part numbers for the intake manifold boots with new ones, presumably the ones that are right for the 01+ bikes which are reasonably close to the old 89-00 ones, but not exactly so.
So what tends to happen is, the carbs go in and they used to click in in the old boots, and in these they go in ... and nothing. So they are just sitting there. Then you slap pods on it. The manifold boots now have to support the carbs and the filter. They dont and they tend to pop out. The whole carbs, not just the filter. I recomend using some heat resistant object between the battery box and the filter like awood or rubber piece to keep the filter in place and that will help you avoid this embarrassing situation ... as in my jap bike shook its carbs off and I am walking now "walk of shame"

Its sad on a harley, on a jap bike its downright embarrassing.

Pods and pipe - 20 pilots 147.5 mains, 65 pilots (optional) 1 washer and 3 turns on mix screws. I sell a kit ... $25 shipped without mids, $33 shipped with mids. Pm me if you need, BTW if you're not too committed to that K&N, I'd say stay with stock airbox and filter, your motor will last longer that way. K&N lets in nearly everything smaller than the average mosquito ... so its pretty dirty.

We put a washer under the needle E clip and lift it out of the emulsion tube a bit - the thickness of the washer so it richens that section a wee bit.
