Has anyone used the Aztec8 6" Slots headlight kit on a GS?

I'm considering buying it to replace the stock headlight on my naked GS500F, and if anyone has used it I would love to hear their experiences and see pics if they have any.

The headlight in question: http://www.aztec8.com/catalog/i207.html

I just did the same conversion.

However I used this bracket over the aztec8 one. Price is better and more colors.

I got the 38mm one and it fits perfect.

It looks to me like the bracket you linked would make the lights sit a little lower than the stock one? Also, there are no holes for the turn signals - where did you mount them?

Pics would be great if you have any.

Just spend the extra $20 and go with the Aztec8 brackets.  You can request they drill them for turns (no added cost; you don't have to buy their LEDs, which require a resistor anyway).

Just ordered the single round headlight for my bike.  Good people over there.  Don't really know how those slot lights will look on a GS :dunno_black:, but to each his own.
Good day to you!

Pelikan, have you used the Aztec8 brackets? On another forum someone mentions that the fork brackets are plastic - if that's the case maybe the other ones mentioned are better.

If so it's a bit unfortunate, since I do like the look of the Aztec8 ones better and would need somewhere to put my signals.

i have aztec brackets, and the fork brackets are plastic. i've had them on for a few hundred miles so far with no problems. also they're holding up my dual 5 3/4" headlights, so they've got some weight on 'em

steezen, surprised that there's been no issue with the plastic getting worn or scratched at any point in the time you've had them.

Also, if they're plastic it seems like a good idea to check: are you using the ones labelled for a 37mm fork, or did you go a size up to get some clearance? If the bracket sizing runs tight, plastic isn't really easy to bend.

I'm waiting on mine to arrive in 37mm; if they don't fit Aztec has an unconditional "return them until you get the right ones" policy.  That plastic is black thermoplastic, i.e., really tough stuff.  It's not brittle/breakable like Tonka truck plastic, that is, unless you're beating it with a ball-peen hammer (it'll probably flatten before it breaks/cracks).  It isn't going to scratch the forks.

I guess the delux brackets will work as well, but they look (aesthetically) pretty shoddy, and rely on compression to fit to the forks (as opposed to the glove fit of Aztecs).  Have done a lot of research and haven't heard one whiff of any actual bad experiences with Aztec products.

But again, this is hearsay.  I'll give some feedback once I get my kit.
Good day to you!

i went with the 37mm fork brackets as well. the fit is perfect! the plastic is not worn/scratched at all, nor will the forks be damaged by the plastic.

like Pelikan said the plastic is really high grade. i've trusted the quality and construction fully, and they haven't let me down in the slightest.

the screws are the only thing i could complain about from aztec8 haha. they serve their purpose, but the coating was garbage, and had a slight coat of rust after a few hundred miles.

Note to self:  Oil or wax the screws before install.
Good day to you!

I'm still leaning towards this headlight (6" slots) but want to consider all my options before placing an order. So, I've been looking around, trying to check out as many different headlights I can find.

Unfortunately it seems kinda hard to find a good list of headlight manufacturers.

So far I've checked out lights by:
Acerbis
Aztek8
Baja Designs
Fly-N-Cycle
PIAA
Polisport (Moose Racing, etc)

Any notable companies I've missed?

What's that about a resistor? What kind, and where? I'm considering buying their signals as well, so this might be relevant to me. They're DOT marked and should fit the brackets perfectly, so it seems like I may as well get 'em to go along with it... better than the cheap Chinese signals I've got on right now.
