New GS500F Owner. Few Questions

Hello everyone. Im happy to announce im a new owner of a 2009 Suzuki GS500F.
I bought her yesterday and shes bran spanking new. She had one mile on her when I rode her out the dealer and im loving it. I just have a few questions on it.

1. Even though in the owners manual it states you should run normal unleaded gas, would anyone recommend running premium-93 octane?

2. Im not a huge fan of how the exhaust sounds(to quit for me) my buddys got a yoshimura exhaust on his bike and its sounds nice. Im thinking of throwing one on.
          -Would it give me a little more power?
          -Would i have to rejet or do anything else to the bike, or do i just put it on and im i good to go?

3.Iv been reading around and alot of people recommend a K&N air filter. Do you think it would be good idea to pick one up? Im a big K&N guy.
     -Would it create even just alittle more power?

If i could get a few opinions on the questions, that would be greatly appreciated. thanks

As for your Q's:

You will receive no benefit by running higher octane gas, save your money.

The Yoshimura full exhaust has been discontinued for years.  Sometimes used ones pop up in the for sale section.  They will make changing your oil filter more difficult.  I believe Jardine and Vance & Hines still make full systems for the GS500, check www.pipecity.com to check.  Search on here and you will find many threads of slip on pipes people have fitted up to the stock GS header.  Any modification will require a rejet.  Even without a modification these bikes are jetted lean from the factory so a rejet for the stock set up is recommended.

No opinions either way on the K+N, I'll let someone else take that question.

Not to be a buzz kill but these are not very powerful bikes, no matter how much you modify it you will never see a big gain in horsepower.  They are cheap, reliable and fun though!  Ride safe

Thanks for the response. And to your last note. I understand that. I didn't buy this bike to hit lightspeed, just to cruise and bum around town. Thanks for the input though.

Soso congrats on your GS.
I also bought an 09 in February and I had to put her in the storage until the end of April.
But now I've been riding it and is a great little bike. Enjoy.

To get an idea of the sound try you tubing the slip ons you like the sound of. There is usually someone who has posted a vid of theirs somewhere on there.

I run the next higher octane than standard cause standard in Australia means is has ethanol in it and I won't run ethanol.
