Well GS community, you have been good but I must be leaving. I have decided that I no longer need a motorcycle in my life so I'm putting my 2004 GS500F up for sale in Lawrence, Kansas.

I bought the bike with 256 miles on it and today it has 2,954.8 and is mechanically perfect. It runs beautifully, partly due to the carb work I've done but mostly because it's been well maintained and has so few miles - It already has had 3 oil changes and the oil still comes out clear yellow. I emptied the forks and put 20W in them which greatly helped with the ride. The bike is one of a very few with polished rims and has a custom decal job. The bike has some cosmetic damage and I'm guessing this is why it was considered salvage. I will point out all the cosmetic damage in the pictures but it's nothing you can't see from more than 6 feet away, the previous owner said what they all say: "i dropped it in the driveway" but there was not enough damage to make me think it was anything more than a 5mph drop max. There's also a mystery dent in the tank that was on it when I bought it that can't be seen from the sides, no rust inside the tank whatsoever, and I have to point out the dent to my friends and they always say they never noticed it.

SV650 throttle tube
Polished Rims
20 Weight Fork Oil
5,000K HID
Unique Decal Job
Shimmed Carb Needles

if you can see the cover on this side has a few scratches but it's only cosmetic and there's some bits of touch up paint here and there but as you can see it's damn hard to tell. As you can see I've done the rear fender delete.

You can see here that I have blacked out the windscreen

In this pic I'm showing the custom 5000K HID kit I installed, it has a pretty nice cutoff and looks clean.

Here's that dent I was talking about, how does this happen?

here's the mileage

I will entertain all offers.

1500, but only because I have to come from New Orleans LA to get it. I will spend more than the 500 in Gas for my truck

Head-on collision. Rider's nuts were probably big a grapefruit for a while. They don't total bikes for a drop in the driveway.

I never said that it was only a drop in the driveway, I have no idea what actually happened, I simply said that the previous owner told me that he dropped it in the driveway which means he was probably lying. The photos are not misleading, you can see the damage. Functionally and mechanically the bike is perfect, everything works exactly as it would from the factory. Like I said I have personally put over 2,500 miles on it, and it rides as well as any other bike I've ridden.

That tank dent is very very very likely not the result of a driveway drop. Its most likely the result of a sunday night thrash to get the bike back together and an overzealous shove to get the tank back on. Or it fell off its perch 1/2 full of gas when someone had the tank off. The only tank I have seen with that sized dent was that way.

Having said that these bikes crash very very well. I crashed my 89 in its 49K miles over 8 times, twice I was side swiped by a car and it was crashed before I even got it. That one also rode unbeliveably well ... It is a reflection of how over built the bike is more than anyting else.

Cool.

Looks like something heavy fell off a shelf onto the tank.  If that is from a crash then all I have to say is OUCH!!!
