Is it wrong of me to be thankful that it wasn't one of you guys riding that had the crash, that was my first thought, shame about the crash.

I didn't realize you still had the camera running after the MA MA creek twisties. Awesome footage of us pulling up and the scene. You can see me trying to look for my mobile phone through my tank bag but forgetting where I put it. And that total wanker dude who was bossing everyone around. Geesh he annoyed me.

Glad it wasn't one of us too! We pulled up probably 5-10 secs after this happened.

I had actually turned the camera off. But when I saw the puff of steam (or whatever it was) above the other cars, I figured I'd better turn it on. So between turning it on, waiting for it to boot up, then pressing the start button, we were so much closer. So what you see here is the start of the footage I got. After that you can see Mr Bossyboots - the guy in the cowboy hat who you see running by - push you out the way when you open the door of the sedan and other stuff.

Interesting the guy you see walk into the camera shot just stand there with his phone in his hand. Dumbfounded. Do I call the ambulance or watch. Do I help or watch. What do I do? While our first thoughts are "the people in the cars are being attended to, better call the ambulance" and then action taken.

The thing was, as we approached the intersection and had meant to go up to the right, I saw the oncoming cars and thought "the guys behind me don't know this road and the intersection can be tricky, so I'll slow it down to make sure we have a clear run cause I don't want any accidents". If only the sedan had thought the same thing - didn't even skid or try to slow going by the lack of skid marks and lack of small rocks grooves in the road.

Not wrong at all. We were glad it wasn't any of us also.

I hope it never happens again. But it has made me realize that there are many procedures the emergency people would like us to go through, but which we do not know. I'm not talking first aid, I'm talking initial assistance. Should the people have been helped out of the cars even if they couldn't get out themselves but were conscious and capable of getting out with help? I need to check with OUR ambulance staff to see what They would like us to do in our jurisdiction. Might be a Monday task.

Mary, if you see this and have a moment of time, it would be appreciated if you could share your thoughts.

Thank god you guys are ok, and that they're ok with minor injuries. Just think if it wasnt two cars and a car and a bike.

Sad, really sad.I hope everyone pulls through. We have some pretty bad roads here, but that one must be real bad to cause an accident like that.

The road was Not at fault. It was the driver's fault for failing to give way to oncoming traffic. And as a local - this is a rural road without much traffic (as you can see the lack of oncoming vehicles in my video) - she Should have known the intersection. *I* did and I am not a local who regularly travels that road. *I* could see the oncoming cars and knew I'd need to slow down. She Should have seen likewise and done likewise. The crash was her fault and her fault alone.

The boyfriend's quote of nearly crashing several times is, I believe, about the road she was trying to go onto. THAT road is single lane and when cars meet they both must have one side on the dirt and one on the road to safely pass. Have someone who cannot judge their car well and you can Nearly hit. BUT, that road is so lightly traveled I have ridden its length and not passed a single vehicle.

Again, NOT the road's fault. The driver's fault. Even if visibility is poor - and it is not - then you slow down, don't you? She did not slow. It was a full speed impact. Driver error.

I got it.Sounds like some of the roads in my area.

I've been first on scene to three crashes now (not counting the 20 or so motorcycle crashes while marshalling at Wakefield). I tend to leave people in their cars. Turn off the car off with the key and pull the handbrake up. If they are unconscious, be prepared to watch them panic when they wake up. If you try to get them out you can make any broken bones etc. worse, leave that for the emergency services. Even if they can get out, the car is often better anyway.

If there is more than one person there have one do the first aid and the other call 112 (000, 999, 911, etc.), for some reason people's voice sound a little panicy when they are looking at someone bleeding from their eyes.

XLAR8

and remember the GLOBAL MOBILE/CELL NUMBER for emergency services is 112

some areas you wont be able to contact your country's native number from your mobile (and under some mobile restrictions ie, no credit, no sim card)  but you will be able to contact them under 112.
