Took the bike to the car wash and now it won't start up. Checked the spark plugs to make sure they weren't wet, and let it dry all day in the 98 degree heat, but its still doing this.

Your starter clutch is bad and just spinning on the shaft.To much and you will have what I had,a seized starter clutch ring gear.It destroyed my starter,AKA gave my bike Starwalt's disease. http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=56037.0

Your starter motor is clearly just spinning and not turning anything over. Start pulling it apart and look for something loose or stripped.

hmmm... glad you posted that vid. i seem to be having the same exact issue.

though, i didn't go to a carwash. i was away and the bike sat for maybe 2 weeks, so i thought it was my battery. now, gonna follow this thread to see what's the deal.

Take of the left side (where the generator is) engine cover an look at generator drum bolt

Probably it go loose. To tighten it, you will need to take off clutch cover to, and hold for something that the engine can not spin. For me it worked

The rotor bolt is torqued to 96 foot pounds.The inside of it and the crankshaft snout must be completely clean and free of any oil or rag lint.It is also recommended to use red loctite.I always use red loctite on those bolts.They are notorious for backing out otherwise.
