My MZ got plastic tank, not all that its cracked up to be IMHO ... it always looks a bit tacky, the tank also is monstrously thick ... then there is the pain peeling problem ...
Meeeh ... not impressed, I'd take a steel tank that has a full on drain ability, meaning it will drain 100% when you tip it on the fuel outlet side ... That will let me coat em perfectly and call it a day.
Cool.

For some reason I'm thinking the V-Rod has a plastic tank under the seat, and where the gas tank would normally go is just a cover over the air cleaner.

has anyone thought of putting a piquet at the very bottom of the tank so that it can be fully cleared?

Hmmmm, this is an interesting idea.  Kind of like a cover and use a plastic tank underneath.  I'm working on something that this might just work on.  It would give me more room underneath too.  hmmmmmm where's the light bulb icon?  :icon_idea:

Correct, and being under the seat and being plastic the harley Idiots that rode away on the v-rod, never made it back home. Hence 99% of V-rods ever sold are still on the road, well the side of the road, but well the road none the less ...

yes.
Yes, and still have a 'metal tank' for support, to slap your magnetic tank bag on, to do 'stunting' (bleh), it just won't have gas in it... the tank under the tank would have the gas in it... and since it is covered, who cares what it looks like.  It can puff, it can distort, it can suck in, it can dent, it can be pink purple yellow and have a rainbow sticker on it and barbie-doll stickers and ......... ya won't see it.

I keep forgetting to turn the petcock on before i bolt down gas tank. :(
