Hey y'all. I just ordered a new chain and sprockets for my GS, but I don't have a chain breaker tool. Does anybody have one they'd be willing to sell to me on the cheapish side? I can pay via paypal, and shipping would be to zip code 22030. Let me know if you can help me out.
Thanks.

I don't want to sell mine, but I'm in central Maryland. I'd be happy to let you use it, if you wanted to come up some weekend.

check you local auto parts store. The autozone here in town loans their kit out.

By chain breaker, do you mean chain breaker, or are you looking for the rivet tool? For breaking, I agree that a dremmel + punch is your best bet.

ryott52

Whichever one lets me punch out the pin in the chain. I'd like to buy one so I have it in case I need it for something in the future. I'm actually thinking I'll go ahead and order one from Harbor Freight, they're like ten bucks and I doubt I'll use it more than three or four times.

Yeah, if all you want to do is remove the old chain, a dremmel and punch is your best bet. Unless you get an industrial strength chain breaker, you're going to have to dremmel the heads off anyway, lest you replace a lot of broken pins.

For the new chain install, you either need a clip type master link, or a rivet tool.

Yeah, the one from harbor freight is billed as an industrial strength chain breaker, when it gets here we'll see if that's the case. The new chain I've ordered has a master link so putting it on shouldn't be an issue.
