So, I have a 2006 F model. Where can I get a comfier seat??? After 150 miles or so, my butt hurts!

Don't know of any aftermarket suppliers for the '01 up GS seats, Corbin only does the GS500e models.  Jared on this forum does upholstery work.  He put a gel pad in my SV seat and is currently putting one in my '01 GS seat.

STOP!

I have some questions that Need to be answered Before you go changing your seat...

Did you do the 150 miles in one hit, without breaks?
If you had breaks, how many did you have?
How often have you ridden 150 miles like this previously?

Fact of the matter is, it takes multiple trips of greater length to become accustomed to riding a bike for a greater distance.

First time riding for an hour you will likely have a sore butt. And at that point there ain't no way you could do two hours in the saddle without discomfort. Which is why I continually suggest to Build Up To It. With multiple trips in the 30 minute range,, then 45 minute range, then 60 minute range - not distance, but time.

Point is, there is most likely nothing wrong with your seat. But YOU are lacking inasmuch as your body being Used to riding such distances. With an accustomed body and the right clothing, 150 miles on the GS500 seat will not give sore butts.

So, how about those questions?

i have done TWO 150+ miles days on my bike, over the course of a few hours on each one. if i will get accustomed to it, then i won't get a seat. i just wanna be able to ride 300 miles in a day and be fine.

So then, ride for an hour then have a break for 15 minutes. During this time, stretch - side stretches, hams, quads, calves, tiptoes reach for the stars. I've given exercises to do on a bike in previous threads. Sit slightly askew on the bike (left more forward than right) for a few clicks then switch to the other side. Hang an arm down your left side, or rest it on your knee or thigh or whatnot. Ride with toes on pegs and raise foot. Ride with heels on pegs and lower/raise toes. Occasionally stretch a leg forward while riding. Open your legs for a bit. Sit a tad further back or forward. And Most importantly, do NOT wear briefs. Where flannel boxers or get yourself some padded bicycle shorts. Then after the break, ride for another hour. It is repetitive time in the seat that gets you used to greater distances in a single day, not distance between stops.

And do the on-seat movements Before you start to feel something. But just don't go more than an hour without a break Until you are used to it.

i agree with mister... first time i rode my bike 240 miles (stoping ever so often) it was a NIGHTMARE! I had my butt up on the passenger seat trying to get comfortable, hopped down and stretched out the legs. I hear of some people (probably smaller than me) supermaning it and stretching out to the passenger pegs with there legs but I don't think thats very safe, I don't know your height but I can tuck into the fairing and rest my elbow on my knees and that helps a lot with my arms. I ride 60 miles to and from work everyday so now I don't mind the GS seat at all though softer cant hurt i guess...

why not? i wear underarmour boxer briefs. it's like a sporty mesh non-cotton material. they are moisture resistant. actually they kinda feel like biking shorts. thoughts?
