bike fouling plugs , cant make it lean please help

I'm trying to make my bike lean for emissions .
The problem I have is it runs rich whatever I do
( the plugs are carbon fouled )
bike runs 40/125 jets + one 0.5 mm washer on the needle
had  carb gaskets and needle valve assembly replaced
float level is exact with the gasket surface ( checking with a Pipe )
( actually whatever I do with the floats moving the float +/- 3 mm doesn't change the Upipe test )
spark plugs are NGK DPR7EA-9  exhaust is Cobra F1
mixture screws are all the way in  ( taking them 3 turns out doesn't seem to make big difference )
the bike runs Aribox+UNI filter with  almost no oil on it . ( without the air filter there is still a rich
problem , smaller of course but 3 min of riding makes the plugs fouled )

When I rode the bike without the air box and it was running lean ( white plugs ) air box back on
rich .
The bike pulls great after 2.5RPM's but in the lower end it backfires with black smoke .
Could anybody help me out with this , please . :)

you can call me a shaZam! eating tampon face.....nope, taken....

runs fine with out the filter(airbox)....the filter is restricting air flow.
try cleaning the filter and running with no filter oil

try the stock filter.

put the stock pilots back in.

get rid of the airbox and get the K&N filter

No this is still better then with the stock filter setup .
And I know Im missing something probably with the floats
as whatever I do to them they still keep the level
exactly on the gasket height which would be cool if it worked
It still fouls the plugs without ANY air filter in so. the carbs
are just running to rich
. Dont know how to fix it .

you can lean the bike out by using alcohol in the gas for the emissions test, not sure of gas/alcohol mix though :(

I had an identical problem when I bought my used '93' GS. The bike ran so rich at low throttle that it was hard to get it off of a standing stop without a lot of throttle milking. One cylinder kept carbon fouling its plug.

When I disassembled the carburetor on the offending cylinder I discovered that the spring seat (called a 'ring' in the parts manual) for the jet needle was missing. Nothing holds the 'ring' in place except the spring so that means that the 'ring' falls on the floor as soon as the carb is dissassembled. When I installed a new 'ring' the worked flawlessly ever-after. That was 3500 miles and 4 months ago.

If the 'ring' is missing the spring cannot hold the jet needle in place so that the needle rises during low power settings allowing more fuel into the cylinder. At higher power settings the jet needle is pulled up by the diaphram so that the absence of the 'ring' is not as noticable.

The Suzuki p/n for the 'ring' is 481809-001, however, I wuld advise disassembling the carburetor and checking before you order. They are about $3.00 each. Hope this helps.

Check the choke cable, make sure the choke plungers are seating. It may be leaking gas past the choke.

Yea my bet is also choke but I guess you have it sorted by now.
Check the choke plunger in the carbs, if one is missing a spring... there is the problem.

Working fine for me.  Host might be doing some maintenance also,

Or maybe you are living up to your name....

The board is running in debug mode, if you didn't see any long error codes I would suspect some sort of server maintenance.

Float needles worn? So that they're just flowin' gas.

Srinath, is it possible that the gas is just flowing down into the cylinder and still giving the same floatbowl reading? (Because it's just filling up under gravity feed (Prime) and the overflow is just going down the intake, thus giving the same level reading?)
