Finally got the boots that go from the carbs to the engine.

To make it short, installed everything fine.

Took a bit to start up.

But when it did, few idle problems but im not concerned with that atm.
Throttle cable at the carb needs to be adjusted as it revved up when I turned the handlebars or played with the cord and stayed there.

Main concern was Constant smokey exhaust.
Appeared to be light but its dark out and I only had my porch lights to work with.

I dunno, im just frustrated and have had Enough.

Probably going to see if I can take it in and have a shop look at it.

and if its anything Major ($$$), then I'll just part the damn thing out and wipe my hands of the constant problems.

(edit)
be nice if there was anyone who KNOWS what they are doing 100% that lived close to Luzerne county Pa
that could come take a look and maybe fix it if its minor for some $$$

Smokey...... Did the smokey exhaust dissipate quickly or when you in a big fog of fumes? Eyes burning  while standing next to it?

What idle problems-besides the throttle cable issue?

It runs and idles- you're getting close.
When the 2nd Amendment is lost, the rest will soon follow.

Torque is LBs-FT Damn it.
Yeah that was me.    One of my rides

started out smokey as hell
Lightened up SLIGHTLY but only slightly.

was quite a bit for the first bit when I first started it up.
didnt wanna stay running for the first few minutes, I had to keep revving it.

after a bit, choke worked as it should, seemed to idle normally.

put the seat on to take it a very short distance and see how it acts.
which is when the throttle started acting up.
cable itself is fine, its a problem on the carb side as the cable is not tight or pinched
actually that has me puzzled, it seemed fine but when I turned the handlebars, it revved up to 4K and stayed there even if I turned the handlebars back.

thats when I got frustrated even further and had to call it a night.

and the Entire time it was spewing smoke out of the exhaust.

now 8am here and light out so im going to go out and check it over thoroughly and to confirm what I think is a light smoke (was too dark to fully tell)

Its been a VERY bad week to say in the least (Much more then motorcycle problems) so forgive any rambling frustration filled posts on that dang bike!

(edit)
yep, constant white smoke.
same deal with turning the handlebars, I turn them right and it revs up.
choke acted fine

But i was getting nothing  from workin with the Idle screw...

Well, took it all back out. (carbs)

said screw it and simply put back the parts I replaced from the carbs. (that dangling thing on the floats and the thing below it) i've been up too long to bother with technical terms I dont know.
they were both in fine working order and cleaned.

I just wanted to see if it would work as wtf else could it have been...

installed everything Alot smoother with no problems.

took a bit to start as it was empty of gas.
still had revving problems when I turned the handlebars right, so I messed with the throttle cable at the handlebars and fixed it.

everything Seems fine now.

Still a little bit of white smoke but like 75% to 85% less then it was before.

going to take it for a test ride now and if everythings fine, then im not even gonna mess with it anymore for awhile unless a little white smoke keeps up and its a Bad thing.

Maybe you got some moisture in your gas or engine, white smoke is usually water or antifreeze, black is oil and grey is gas.  :thumb: being we dont have antifreeze...

exhaust cleared up but my initial problem arose yet again!!

after a 4 mile ride, everything from before started actin up again.

total lack of power, feels like a 50CC scooter!
firecracker popping out of the exhaust.

wouldnt even be able to make it up Any decently sized hill if it had no momentum.

I've HAD IT!
I might take it to be checked out while its acting up but if its something major, which I think it is... then I am done with this P.O.S.!!!!
and probably done for at LEAST the entire damm year
already spent almost as much as I bought the bike for in odds and ends replacement parts
Not about to waste anymore if its going to be expensive.

Theres no knocking or ticking from the motor or bad sounds as if something broken or going crazy.

Just running with an Absolute lack of power, throttle Wide open just to pick up speed without being rear ended!
and firecracker popping out of the exhaust (muffler, not the front)

Sounds crazy lean.

Try routing the fuel line directly from the tank to the carb, eliminate that possible problem, double check your carb jets, reset your mixture screws, make sure all your vac lines are right, check hose clamps on the filters, and check back in.

Should take another 30 min, then if your done, ill take it :)

nah Im done even going Near that thing for today.

I've been up almost 24 hrs and too tired as well.

I'll just stop over at a dealership tomorrow before I head to my doctors appointment and see what they can do for me and when.

for now its steer clear of the bike as I want to grab a sledge hammer and go to town! hahaha

White smoke and backfire = lean condition.
Are you running it on 'pri' ?
Have you checked float height?

there is no smoke from the exhaust now.
Just my initial problem came back after I thought I found the problem.
(boots from carbs to motor were rusted and fell apart when I was going to remove the carbs)
JUST got done replacing them as I thought that was the problem but I guess it wasnt.

im totally new at motorcycle mechanics so I havnt checked everything and honestly not going to myself anymore.
and its not on Pri

It was running fine for weeks.. then BAM it simply started acting up.

If it all sounds like a air or fluid problem then that makes me a little less ticked and worried.
I'm simply expecting to hear even worse news when I can get it in the shop.

I still think it's not getting enough fuel.
Put it on 'pri' and open the tank and take for a short ride.
Are the carbs clean?

I cleaned them as best I could for being so new to working on motorcycles.

I'll go out and see if its still acting up and if putting it on Pri helps.
It didnt seem to act up when cold the last time it acted up.

should be still warm.

in a min tho as im emailing the dealership for their insight and an appointment as im just Too tired to drive over there.

(edit)
nope no change on Pri, or reserve.

didnt even wanna go up to 5K with the choke.
would either slow down and stall or hang at 2K for a bit then stall.

thats as much effort im putting into it if I can get it in the garage anytime within 2 weeks.

and yea, no bad sounds coming from the motor.
So I assume and would hope for everyones insight, that it seems to be an air or fuel problem like everyones been saying in this thread and the past 2 i've made a week+ ago?

(edit again)
yea its best I just take it to the garage.
It needs a very thorough examination anyways if the problem isnt something costly.

(edit again!)
WOW! got a Super fast response from the dealership I emailed (closest place that can work on it)
Next Thursday morning I'm taking it in

This is starting to sound like a problem in the ignition system.Bad coil or ignitior. The crank triggers rarely go bad.

Hell no, crank triggers on a gs die like clockwork ... 25-30K miles and they are done. Bad triggers atleast 3 in my 18 so far. One went with like 10-12K actually.
I've yet to see a bad igniton box or bad ignition coil ...
Cool.
