Over the holidays I plan to work on my bike, since I'll have 5 days off during Christmas weekend, and I don't have to go see the relatives (thank Jesus).  Here's what I was planning to do......

Disassemble/clean carbs
Install inline fuel filter
Clean inside of tank
Jet carbs properly

Can anyone suggest anything else that I might not know about that I might as well do while the bike is in pieces?

I would suggest rear reflector relocation, shortening of the rear signal stalks, and the lisence plate relocation in conjunction with the fender removal/trimming. All of which can be found either here or on Pantablo's site. Happy Holidays!!!

The previous owner was kind enough to have performed a fenderectomy before I bought the bike, and the turn signals are ok for now.  

I was looking for suggestions of things I hadn't thought of to do that would require gas tank/carb removal.

As far as appearance mods go, for now I'm pretty happy with the looks of the bike.  I would like to maybe fit a SV/Firebolt/Fazer style 1/4 fairing someday.

Valve Check and fork oil change are next on my list of ,need to do's.

I would suggest a jet change and drill out the idle screw plugs while you have the carbs off.

And as mentioned, valve check and adjustment while the tank is off.  If you don't have the valve removal tool, GET ONE. Well worth the 30 or so bucks.

Also, I would read up on the tank cleaning methods.  there are several depending on the time you want to spend on that part of the project.

Srinath gave me some great advice on cleaning the tank.
