right .. Umm 90% i found the issue .. Above right hand cylinder is a black plug with ..... 7 wires .. The right hand switch runs down to it .. On the wiring diag the yellow/white wire runs from switch to plug to another plug to high/low switch .. On the black plug i was getting full volts on switch side but only 9 on on loom side .. So i pulled the plug apart and the FEMALE side (loom) looks partly melted and shitty only on yellow white wire point.. Wiggled the probe in it and plugged back in .. Bingo! Headlights! .. On further inspection the male side point looks green powdery as does the yellow white solder point up on the right hand switch .. From previous truck related wiring i remember various wires that were green powdery and also faulty/shorted .. Take that you SHAZAM wiring! Ha f.......g ha!

Now .. I cant see any easy way to remove the slagged female side of switch cos that would also mean unwrapping the loom and fiddling with all the other wire in that circuit too .. So i shall put together a single wire plug bypass and wrap it all up nice and sealed! !..

(dancing around all unco whilst seated on a milkcrate) ... Oooo lay ooh lay ooooh LAY ooooh lay .. The solutions hot hot hot!

Get contact cleaner lubricant (although a little baby oil works great - especially on audio connections).
The green power is copper corroding away. Get contact lube on those to arrest the corrosion then at some future date, buy a used wiring harness for about $20 and take a day to replace your wiring. One bad spot means you have many more connections going bad. Green powder: you're not snorting mountain dew - you're corroding away.

good points .. Thanks .. The coastal conditions here combined with only carport roof and bike cover are not gonna help matters i guess .. The right switch and black plug are the only 2 places i saw green .. And i did a reasonable look over while putting it all back together .. But yeah another harness did cross my mind during the unsolved problem time .. On a ironic note , was just doing up last few bits and thinking of a short celebration ride .. Glanced down at the rego label ..which expired yesterday .. Ah well tmw will have to do

Good fix Janx; glad you got it nailed down. Once you get it buttoned up, I hope you'll be finished with the repairs, at least for a while. Best of all, what you've learned from this episode will carry over to help you solve any other wiring problems you might encounter.

Keep punching man; ride safely...
