Am I missing something? I hear the noises, but the cliip was only 8 seconds long and I didn't actually see anything happening.

The engine explodes and blows a piston out of the motor - this piston then cuts the hand off the rider

That's Brock Davidson. Still has both his hands.

Now, think about it: how would a piston come UP through the head, leaving the valves, cam shafts, springs, etc?  The airbox blew up, as does happen sometimes with nitrous. Bet it hurt, just the same.
