I agree, and you can also get clear filters from bike bandit to see if you have a claug or not

Thanks for the reply...Yeah, I know I have an in-line filter and it's great but, being a noob I want it for the reserve functions. I was an idiot and thought that I ruined a filter and so I through out the plastic piece. I have used milage in the past, but I would like to see exactly how far I can go on one tank of gas.

The two tubes (one short and one long) should still be there. The plastic screen is there to help filter rust and things that fall into the gas tank when you're filling it (like bugs & dirt on the cap). That plastic screen is not mandatory, but good to have in the tank.

Should use a new o-ring gasket and the two that go on the bolts when you put it back on. If you don't have a fuel leak, then OK.
