New guy with an old bike(long post)

Well, I suppose 1990  isn't too old. Bought non-running with a second non-running bike minus the front end, if that makes sense. Anyhow, $350 is a fine deal and I have a cool set of tools so I'm off and running.  About bike #1, I have NEVER seen a bike with more frozen bolts, grease, grime and such a general lack of maintainance. Damn! Got the bike going by non-opping my only other operational motorcycle and bicycling to work until the GS fired. The plan worked like a charm and the GS indeed ran. I say ran because I have an issue. It was supposed to be a junkyard dog, but I have since bought, tires(sport demons), brakes,clutch and springs,k&n lunchbox,intake manifolds,o-ring chain, sprockets(15x39),wheel bearings,steering stem bearings, I am forgetting something...Likewise I have performed nearly all maintainance you can do on a bike...did I mention the rusty tank/fuel system??Paint paint, clean clean,I'm sore, my hands hurt. I broke an exhaust bolt, cause a rusty header simply wont do. hmmmm drill the bolt or try the other motor??...well I got the motor swapped tonite and am right back where I started, two non-running bikes. Gotta say, the 60 actual miles I got on the GS,even with truly horrible tires/wheel bearings was a blast, and hopefully I can get motor #2 running.  I am in heaven!!!

If you've got the tools for it it's probably going to be easier to just drill out the seized header bolt, then just use engine number two for parts.

Search threads for seized bolts.
PB Blaster is the most recommended thing to spray on them.
You'll find tons of other ideas and ....
