I've had a couple of requests to make a clip of the bike running so that people can hear what it sounds like...so I took clips from a few rides and made this video...the sound isn't the greatest, but it should give you a good idea of the sound that it makes... :icon_twisted:

2006 Yamaha MT-01, 1670cc Vtwin, stock everything...

Personally, I'd ditch the screen.  But hey, it worked for you on the GS so why not this too, eh?

:whisper: Don't tell Madjak but these are growing on me, now  ;)

I'd say no different than importing an SV650 - there was all kinds of info on how to do it before they started selling them there. Info I'd imagine is still around - haven't checked.

Biggest headache would be the TAX you'd pay on top of the price you paid - ouch. Then add Compliance costs.

I find the riding position very similar to the 919, but with a wider saddle (a little more comfort)...and you should be able to get a great deal on them...do they still import them in Australia?  the last import to Canada was 2009...but they are still available in Europe...

Anyway, part of the appeal to me was exclusivity...you just don't see many!!  And I luv mine...no doubt about it!!  It just makes such a great sound, the sound in the video really sucks...I need to get a camera with gain control, or use my HD hand held and just video a walk around and start up...

I think I will save the MT-01 review for the end of the season...then I will have a whole summer of riding under my belt...

Well, when I did my test ride of Kawasaki's W800, there was an MT01 available. And they wouldn't make one available if they didn't have them able to be bought. And just checked the Yamaha Aust website and both the VMax and MT01 are listed as Torque Sport. Brand new they're like $20k  :o Second hand they range from $8,500 to $14k - cheapy has 76,000km on it.

:o

Wow...they are holding their value better there than here...new the MSRP was $16,700ish, but you can pick up NOS $9600 here in Alberta...mine had 14,800kms on it when I bought it and I paid them $7200 OTD...higher mileage would have brought the price down even further...

It's not a quick as the V-Max, but I think it is more comfortable...
