New-Altered Front Fender

So a couple months back, she went over at slow speed.  It tweaked my NEW bar, and broke her front fender.  I just tore the old fender off and I like the look a lot better.  The only problem is whenever I ride when it's wet out, i get sprayed with water coming off a rooster-tail from the front tire.

I got a used fender from a parted out GS off ebay but it's red and my bike is black with a silver frame.  I also think the fender is super bulky and big for its purpose.  I want only a couple things out of my fender.
- Keep water from spraying me in the face
- Be Black

So, I basically cut off the sides of the fender with a utility knife.  It isn't beautiful but that isn't one of my requirements.  So far I am just about done sanding off the red.  I just have those hard to reach spots where the forks go past still red.

I took a couple of pictures of it mocked up just after I chopped the sides.

I'll post some more in the next couple of days.  I'm curious as to what you all think about it.

I'm liking it, but I like stuff that is different from everybody else's stuff.  Smooth it out, paint it and let's see the whole bike!

It has a motocross-like look to it.  Pretty cool. :thumb:
