What a road...no bikes going to be allowed, they say, but it's a great country in which to bend the rules a little, just have to watch out for slow moving elephants

And the roads in my second favourite place in the whole wide world just get better. This is the "18-bends road" reconstruction just opened a week or two back on a route from Colombo up to Kandy in the high country. Crazy name cos there are actually only 17 bends!
Love to get a decent bike up and around this road early one tropical morning with the sun burning out the mist and little or no traffic.

And in Colombo, Sri Lanka, the Night Races are being hosted over this weekend. Some pics of the bikes and the cars here in the qualifying stages:

Different world there in the amateur racing game - the bike and the car classes get really mixed up and see how close you are to the street track.  Good fun!

A week or two back, the SL Government announced that cars for racing can now be imported free of taxes, so next year we will be seeing some real exotics mixing it on the track. Time to start planning the next holiday?

And the Colombo Night Races guys even included a tuk-tuk race! Brilliant! Not fast, mind you, but the drivers are having fun. Dip in at about the 24 minute point to get the action. Plenty of English language commentary.
