Tank Fit

Hi all,

I bought my bike used and was told it was using the 06' tank.  If this is the case, I just want to make sure that a 2004 tank would fit.  The bike is a 98' GS500E, thanks

There are two tank styles, old ('89-'00) and new ('01-present). I'm not sure, but I think that some modification is required to mount new tanks to older bikes. Could be wrong on that part. I would assume that since you are already using a new style tank, that another new tank would fit fine.

New tank fits with no mods needed. You just need the newer style seat to fit into the grooves on the new style tank.
