So my clutch was slipping any time I'd go full throttle. After much worrying and hours of reading I went to do the recomended cable adjustment. VoilĂ ! The rubber guard around the lever was folded up in the gap, keeping my lever pulled just enough to cause my clutch to "slip". About 15 seconds with pocket knife in hand fixed it. Be careful if you need to cut as it allows stuff to get in there easier.
Friendly fire, isn't. But it's the most accurate. Semper Fi

I went through a few possibilities for why my new clutch plates started slipping again when they were about 5000 km old.  In the end the cure was pulling the front sprocket cover off to clean the sprocket and chain, and in the process cleaning a whole lot of chain fly off krud from the clutch mechanism and the pushrod.  Result.  There was that much krud under there I was better off with a spoon than a brush.

That clutch push rod is a garbage design. Nothing but problems ... and why the F@CK they had to do it that way ... a cam drive off the right side is just about as complicated and just about as $$$ to make ... When in doubt copy another succesful design ... yamaha ... 85-89 GSXR ... crapola.
Cool.
