I replaced the halogen bulbs with White LED bulbs I got off ebay. Spent $3.96 total for 4 bulbs and got 4 just in case one that was shipped was a dud. When package arrived it had 5 inside. First bulb I tried was a dud. The next 2 I tried work perfectly.

The one behind the Tach died late last summer and was doing without it. I figured I'd replace both while I had was replacing the one. I'll put up pics of what it looks like when it gets dark tonight.  The bulbs aren't as bright wattage wise by .7, but that doesn't bother me at all. Instead of having a amberish color behind the Speedo/Tach it'll be solid white now.

Nice..that pure white looks way better than yellow white...

I tried higher watt incandescent bulb (4 watt)...looked great too....but then got turned on to LED...by this group...

Check out "Superbight LED..."  they have a 5 LED side lit bulb that is at least as bright as original...maybe brighter....I tried red and blue.....both look cool...I like the red...I got white too but have not tried them...

I happy with the outcome of the bulbs I chose. Maybe when I have some extra, extra money to blow I'll try some other LED bulbs.

One nice thing about our West Seattle group and the bike cave - we have lots of parts to play with. Probably 20 different types of LEDs. Here are a few examples.

You can see the metal light deflector in the instruments.
Note how small a T-5 wedge is compared to a T-10. While all use T-10 in the instruments, newer bikes use T-5 in the 4 indicators. Not as bright as a T-10 and you can't find non-polarized T-5's. You can shave a T-10 to fit. Or for the turn signal, use a T-5 and add 2 diodes as noted in a prior post on indicator LEDs.

Junior is all LED. First time seeing him in the dark. Really bright!

OK....just info for others who may be interested in changing bulbs...

The beauty is that LED bulbs are in the price range of like $3 and up....big improvement or custom look for cheap $$$

Bunch of pictures of the 5x WLED bulbs.. I went with the UV bulbs (to go with the UV accent lights)... they are much dimmer (half the lumens of the red) but still easy enough to see...
All the indicator bulbs are switched out with the 74x led bulbs (appropriate colored LED for each jewel) and then a full wave rectifier for the turn signal...
