So finally decided to write up my little projects, tune ups, and other stuff that i made on my gs.

2-3 years back i exchanged it to my Honda XLR 125  :icon_lol:  God deal?
When i get it he looked like this

GS with my budys TZR 125

When i got it then was the end of the riding season, so after a month or two riding with my new GS i started to work with it.
Problems was dirty and rusty frame, forks with no oil, no rear brakes and wrapped disc, some oil leaks from the engine, seized exhaust bolts, poping out gears (sometimes GS self turned from 2nd gear to 3  :icon_lol: ), messed carbs and other things that i cant remember for now..

And finally the work has started.

Founded spark plug in the exhaust pipes   :icon_mrgreen:

In progress of disassemble works

Later moved to another garage and first problem was seized one of the engine mount bolt

But after some struggle engine is out and ready for bath

Wait for more updates  ;)

Second problem was this

Ignition wires dragged on the ground and somewhere caught and.. But its nothing serious

Disassembling other things..

steezin_and_wheezin

great project!

you going to modify it any, or just a clean up and rebuild stock?
if yer binders ain't squeakin, you ain't tweakin!

KlaXon

Stock. But planing to make some mods for this winter

KlaXon

Cleaned and ready for sanding

All ready for painting

Right after that started to paint

Mmmm.. Nice and shiny

KlaXon

Back to the engine

Everything looks normal

Problem was here

And no bolt and spring here

Didn't haven the valve cover gasket at the time so added very thin layer of silicone from both sides of the gasket and it helped

KlaXon

Now is the most interesting part of the job - reassembly  :woohoo:

Great to be back on wheels again  :flipoff:

And here we go. Nice and shiny

KlaXon

After this my renewed GS rolled all season with no biggest problems

KlaXon

When everything looks enough god its time to change that ugly exhaust pipe

New exhaust will be this one. If we can call this an exhaust..  :icon_lol:

Sanded pipes

KlaXon

I love that pipe. Looks nice and sounding impressive. Will add a sound video someday..

Bike looks great.  I always admire those who tear something completely down and learn to build it from the ground up.

A video of the sound of that exhaust would be awesome.  It definitely looks pretty nice.

Really good write up & great pic's!  I like the pipe!!   :bstar:  :bstar:  :bstar:

I was considering getting that same exhaust. I listened to the video and it sounds really good, but I can't tell how loud it is in comparison to the stock. Is it so loud that I would wake my whole neighborhood up when I get home late?

Today i noticed that i missing one of the filters in my breather so i decided to make it.

I bought aluminium sponge and cuted piece of it a little bigger than the original

After few minutes of work.. almost better than the oem  :icon_lol:

What thees "filters" actually doing? Does the engine sucking the air from the airbox, or the air from engine going in to the airbox through these filters?

gtscott

air from engine goes to airbox, its for if there is a pressure build up in the crank case
