Speedometer error 8-10%---is there an adjustment???

I'm not liking the speedometer error on my 07' GS.

Does anyone know how to adjust or calibrate it?

I believe most motorcycle MFRG's purposly shy the speedo that 8% or so.....Maybe to make you think you are really going fast when you're not???

I think you'll find the ODO....is spot on........So if you go changing one you 'll be wrong on the other.

I simply "do the math" in my head and just subtract 10%....it reads 50...I'm going 45.....It reads 60 I'm going 54, etc...yeah real PITA....

The other sloution is get a cheap ass gps........Now when I want an accurate speed, I check the gps not the speedo...for distance I use the ODO and Trip meter..

why do you care so much about 8%?

Add 10% to the readout to get close - you'll be over but I don't think you'll be booked for Just over.

So when you're doing 50, crank it to 55, etc.

Otherwise, relish in the knowledge Suzuki is looking after you with a failsafe system to help you avoid speeding tickets

The only real adjustment is to change front tire size. But like was already mentioned, you'll effect the odo as well. What some people do is run a cheap cycle computer that you can calibrate. Or you can spend the money for a Veypor or other after market gauge set up. I run a gps on mine when I'm touring, or going some where new. What I've found is the in sixth gear my speed is exactly a tenth higher than the RPM. So If it says 5K i'm doing 60, and at 7k I'm doing 80, if that makes sense. Also the speedo inacuracy changes as you go faster. On mine at like 60 and under it reads about 5 mph high, then it goes up by around 1 mph for every tenth. So at 70 I'm doing 64, at 80 I'm doing 73 and so on. Of course I don't have stock size tires either.
It's really not as confusing as it probably sounds. lol
