I think what is becoming obvious is that you can make the GS better for what it is, which means it may run better or handle better or look better, but trying to extract more power from the engine is a bit of a dead end.

hi guys,

when i bought this bike (first bike) it was with the intention of not being powerful, so i wouldn't kill my self in a week :icon_mrgreen:
and got to say that this thing handels well and is fast for me. i can easily to 100mph which i think is more than i need really, what i really like is the acceleration, compared to my car it feels like I'm flying  :icon_lol:

and another thing is that its economical 60mpg ( which for where i live is great, Portugal where i pay 1.60€ per liter or 2.17USD so if you guys think gas is expensive think again :icon_mrgreen:)

so yes i will mod my bike, by the way, i I'm doing mods on it, even be four i opened this topic, i just wanted to know what was the opinion in general.

another question to you guys with jetted bikes, did the mpg drop allot in normal riding?

thanks :thumb:

I dream of gas getting down near $2.17 again. We're luck if it get's down near $3.30. And it's cheaper here then in most other places.

the best and only mods i did on my 09 gs was timing mod ,needles from factory pro .  #22.5 pilot jet, pilot screw  3 turns out,mid main jet #60 , and main jet #147 .This main jet was settled on after trying every jet from #130 to #152 .needle from factory pro was #0994g5-84m-60u 2.9ct  positoned in 2 nd groove from top with  plastic spacer and 1.5mm of washers underneath.float was set at14 mm as per factory pro instructions and spark plug used was NGK DPR9EA-9 .My bike now gets more fuel economy and  sharper performance, in excess of 65 mpg, my tuning was done at sea level..this would be a real good starting point ..

From my point of view, if you're looking to modify the acceleration, just toss on a new rear sprocket, you might lose that 100+ range but your 0-60 will improve drastically!
Also, Adidas, where did you find the rubber liner to place on the gas tank? I need to put one on my new tank...

We already did the maths on this. Sprockets will increase acceleration in 1st and 2nd gear, and kills acceleration going into 3rd (compared to stock gearing.) Unless you want to wheelie, or spend a lot of time doing drag launches, it doesn't help as much as you think it does.

I've only gone stiffer front springs, and led indicators. I may replace the handlebars later on but im leaving the engine alone, I'll wait to my next bike and get a powerful one, but first gotta get more proficient at riding this one. And by leaving the engine alone you keep the reliability and the range of the bike which is always a good thing.
Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

You mean the rubber edging along the bottom edge? It is cheap stock item at a dealer.

Thats a good point, I guess I didn't really notice since I felt more right off the line...
