Where can I buy affordable intake and exhaust valves

most importantly, does anyone know of a supplier for inexpensive intake and exhaust valves? oem is abotu 31 and 50 a piece.

Suzuki parks warehouse charges 24.82 and 40.47 which is the besti 've found so far. any other ideas?

i searched around on the boards for other people in this situation, and don't see a lot of people buying valves, so i wonder if my situation is screwed up:

here's why i'm buying valves.

Brought my bike to a local tech school to fix low compression in one cyl. (bike was running really rich, had problems cold starting, backfired, low power, low gas mileage. It's taking them forever, always coming back and telling me I need to buy more parts..nothing out of the ordinary, but it would be nice if they could have told me up front about most of the parts i'd need. (and the labor is free, so i can't complain)

anyways, so now they are telling me the valves were bent, and i'll need new ones (weeks ago they had me order new shims, wouldn't they have known that the valves were bent when putting in new shims? (they had me buy 255's and 260's.)

thanks everyone in advance, i was able to find affordable shims after reading through posts on these boards!

I think i'm going with cycle recycle.

thats where i got the shims. they were 25 a piece and 35 a piece for intake and exhaust respectively.

Are you talking US dollars??

$25 each for shims is too much..they're $15 each at Suzuki dealer OEM....I got ripped of at dealer for $10 each for used.....

On Internet they are like $7 or so for new.

As for valves...I guess you can go OEM...

My local mechanic who did a top end rebuild on my Honda said he usually gets an entire "top end kit" ...aftermarket....Great quality (according to him)   for way cheaper than OEM....unfortunately nobody made an aftermarket kit for that model HONDA so I paid thru the nose for valves, valve guides, piston and rings etc...

Bent valve often means impact with piston. IIRC, Impact with piston usually means over-rev, or bad bearing.

Before throwing money at it, I'd check to see that the engine is even worth repairing.

cookie... 25/35 is for intake/exhaust valves... go put your helmet on and sit in the corner

OP, are they putting in new valve seats? if you get new seats/valves your going to have to get new shims or use the old ones if your lucky.
2004 GS500F (Sold)
2001 GS500 (being torn apart)
1992 GS500E (being rebuilt)
