Bike is sold, thanks Neil.

Hello all,
I have a a 1995 E to sell in North Mankato MN. Yes, I know I'm a brand new member, a bit more active in forums for my other bikes. I've been lurking here for awhile ever since this thing dropped into my lap. Long story short, a friend of mine and I were planning on getting this one titled and running for his girlfriend. Before that happened she found a nice 89E with clean title and has been happily riding that instead.

It's a 95 with 12,369 miles as the pics show. We cleaned out the carbs and had it running on starting fluid awhile back. I just filled a gas can yesterday to try running that way, maybe I'll have more info this weekend. If I can get it running I'll try to do a compression test and post results. The seat does in fact attach, it was just set in place for the pics. I do have the sidecover panels also, didn't grab them out of the garage. It comes with a K&N air filter.

Known deficiencies:
Medium sized dents in tank
Missing headlight assembly and blinkers
Missing key set
Missing battery
Brake lever is bent
Handlebars are bent
No license plate
Handlebar clamp is currently off for possible swapping to the 89.

Overall it's clean and has very little corrosion. Looks a lot nicer than the beater EX-500 I'm currently on.

Titling will be a bastard for this thing from what I've found. MN DMV says it isn't stolen, but was registered a few years ago. I had planned on a sheriff's auction, which is a fairly cumbersome and expensive process. Realistically this would be best for someone who needs parts or a race bike. I'll consider parting it out if several large parts are spoken for, only because I have remainder parts from way too many bike projects already around. Conversely, if someone has a titled frame (and school financial aid comes through) I may be interested in swapping components and getting it on the road. I'd like to get about $350 for it as it sits, PM me a counteroffer if you'd like, I'm flexible and won't get offended even by a lowball offer. Might not accept it though.

Thanks for reading,
Mark

P.S. The two Yamaha Visions next to it are for sale too. Anybody up for a moderate pain in the ass project?

Hi everyone,
Got some time in on the bike today. Sputtered to life easily on starting fluid, so I rigged up a fuel line and mini-funnel to add gas directly to the fuel T. On the second crank from empty it caught and started running, good deal. I kept spoon feeding it gas for 15 minutes, mostly at 1500 to 3000 RPM, and also tried shifting through all the gears with it up on the centerstand. They all engaged well as far as I could tell, and I didn't notice any abnormal smoke from the pipe or engine noises. I was running without the airbox and it didn't like throttle blipping, but I managed to coax it to about 5500 RPM. When it was up to temp I took compression readings and got 145 on the left, 148 on the left, which seems to be acceptable readings and variation.

Discovered bummers:
left fork seal is misting a little bit
rear sprocket is very worn, definitely needs replacement before riding, should do a chain too
Front tire is not good, rear has a little tread left

Other than those developments it was a very encouraging experience. If anyone would like to take a look I have a flexible schedule and could try to work something out.

afterburner: PM to you
