New Brake Pads on '99 gs500e - Problem

I just upgraded my front brake line to stainless and a set of HH pads.  I pretty much followed the instructions down to a T and made sure it was all done properly.  After reinstalling the caliper, tightening down the bolts, and bleeding the line I pumped the front brake until it was charged up and braking properly.  It seems like the front wheel didn't want to spin very well though, with no brake depressed it seemed the pads were rubbing on the rotor already.

Now I made sure to push the Caliper Pistons all the way back into the recess on the caliper before installing the pads.  Is this normal, common, safe?    Is it simply because I have new pads that are quite a bit thicker than the old ones?   I don't want to ride it in this condition, seems like the rotor and pads would super heat very quickly if they are touching.

  any advice would be great.

  thanks guys!

It is normal for a slight grab for the first few miles. The pads have to decide where they want to be and seat to the rotor.
I think I read somewhere that new pads need about 100 miles to properly get broken in.
Ride, You'll be fine. if you still have a problem after 20 to 50 miles, then ask again.
I've replaced pads and the same happens - either front or rear. After a short ride, they seat themselves where they want and all is OK.

To add to that, I'd advise re-bleeding the brakes after a day or two to remove the last of the trapped air that's setted out of the calliper. Just one or two pumps will do it.

Did you clean the pistons in the calliper before fitting new pads? if not you may have pushed the dirty part of the piston into the calliper seals giving you a sticky brake.
