I've got the dealer manual for the bike but it isn't clear enough for me to understand. I understand where all of the hoses go except the vacuum line for the petcock. I know it goes to the carburetor but where!? Out of all the hoses related to fuel, it's the smallest, yes?

Using this pic can someone please tell me where to connect the vacuum line coming from the petcock? http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb17/ben_2_go/Motorcycle%20Stuff/Mikuni%20BST33SS%20Carbs/engineside-1.jpg (it's the one from the sticky).

It has more than one vacuum port but I cannot figure out which one it connects to. Obviously not the ones facing vertically, but horizontally. Only problem is there's two! Can I connect to either or? Is the other one just open all the time?

Also...the line coming off the bottom of the tank that is separate from the filter assembly...does that just dangle down and out from around the bike or does that connect to something as well?

What a pain in the butt. Would've been a lot better with just a regular old, plain Jane petcock!

what year bike?  My 01 vacuum cable goes like this: If you are looking at the petcock, it connects to the uppermost left nipple (kinda bent alongside the airbox), it then goes under the airbox and connects to the top right forward side nipple (if you are looking from the battery towards the front of the bike) on the right side carb.  The left side carb will have the same nipple, but it will have a rubber cap on it.

Vacuum port in the middle on the LEFT carb, or in the picture it is the one on the right.
The port on the right side carb (left in the photo) is plugged unless someone opened it.
The top vacuum ports have caps on them. They are used to sync the carbs.

I like the petcocks the way they are - never have to worry about turning the fuel off or riding a few blocks and stalling because I forgot to turn the fuel on.

The hose off the tank is a drain for the area around the fuel cap on the top so water doesn't get into the tank. It hangs down out of the way.
