i seem to think they have stopped producing the gs500.  i had one a couple of years ago and have been on an aprilia caponord the last 2 years.  i may need to get another 500 just to have one.  it nwas a very good bike.  50,000 miles in 3 years.  how long will parts be available?

this, we've got a lot of GS500's on the planet that there won't really be a lack of parts for a long time

Suzuki seems to be pretty good about keeping parts available for 10-15 year old bikes.

Yeah no problems down under at getting genuine parts just a little on the pricey side and seem to be a plethora of non OEM parts out there.
Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

Dunno about the other parts, but I got a "genuine" mirror from oneidasuzuki (after one shipping screw-up.. sigh) for about $50.
Keep in mind that ordering from my LOCAL dealer was $90. So.. "pricey" all depends on where you are getting em from.

The first parts to dry up will be the rarest: the 89 clipons (I know, Canada and Europe has them). But then the "cosmetic" parts that get banged up and rusted like the gas tank. Titled frames will begin to disappear from areas that require titles. Upper fork tubes begin to rust and get pits but are interchangeable with other bikes.

A couple years ago I was working on a 1968 Honda CL175. It was only made for one year before they changed the frame and engine layout. If I couldn't find the exact part I needed (gas tank, 40 year old forks, etc) there were always parts from similar bikes that fit no problem. I think the GS500 is like a cockroach: they will still be around after a nuclear blast.
