Took a little trip down to Budds Creek Road to see the washed out bridge from hurricane Irene. Couldn't get any pics of the bridge 'cause of the barricades.

Got it with a Whistler Cruisader which is pretty handy. It will keep me out of trouble and i get to see the battery volts. Think i need a new battery 'cause it's not holding the charge and i have to jump start it every couple days.

I looked through your previous posts but didn't see anything. Do you have removable saddlebags? I've never seen a bracket system like that.

I have two Givi 36L hardcases. I haven't had a reason to use them yet. Think i'll get a taller windshield then i'll take a long trip.

The bracket system is nice, but what I really like is the handle bar extenders.

Did you put them on or did it come like that?

How does it feel?

Dresnewtoy

Bought it like that from the p/o. It feels good to me as i'm sitting close to upright. I don't know how they compare to the stock handlebar position 'cause this is my first bike.

FYI: You need an emblem or something to cover the hole on the right side rotor cover. You don't want water getting in there.

Thanks for the reminder, i've been looking at it the other day and wondering why there is a hole there in the first place. I got it like that and didn't ask 'cause i thought they all had that hole. Looking at it up close i see that it's not supposed to be there. Any suggestions on why there's a hole there and where to get an emblem?

adidasguy

Emblem $14
Or buy a billet aluminum stator cover from some people here on the board. A few people have them like $25.

Post a WTB in the for sale section.

I'll check. I might have a couple in the bike cave (I'm a parts whore).

Got a new one in the package. PM me if you want it
part #  68233-01d10
I'll mail it for $14(I think I got it for $14.50 or so: EMBLEM (68233-01D10 )    $14.58)

I looked at this thing again just now. This thing looks to be one piece with 3 bolts called the Contact Breaker Cover. I looked at the diagram and on the diagram there is the contact cover separate from the emblem. On my bike i don't see where the center piece can come off, it's all one unit. The suzuki emblem was just letters glued on the contact breaker cover.

Am i making any sense? Need clarification before i start spending (see pics below)

the emblem, #13 in diagram, is a thin piece(plastic/metal/foil? not sure what material..) that glues to the face of #11

In your Fig. 6, part #13 is the Emblem. it's an adhesive backed piece that sticks to the contact cover. Keeps crap from getting through the hole in the center of the contact cover. Anything that covers or plugs the hole will be fine as long as it doesn't protrude inside far enough to rub on any spinning bits behind the cover :thumb:

So, what is that luggage rack and where can I buy it? I want one.

Dresnewtoy

Got ya. I'll order an emblem today. The hole looks like it was done after the fact, any ideas as to why they punched that hole?

To Bombshelter13 - They are Givi 36L hardcases. I bought the bike like this form the p/o. I looked at the paperwork and all the mounting hardware is the Givi Wingrack 2 for the '00/'03  GSF600 Bandit. I guess it also fits the GS or they modified it to fit.

bombshelter13

Thanks, I guess I'll have to look up the Bandit rack.

Does it look like it was modified to you?

adidasguy

They didn't punch a hole. It belongs there. It is made that way.
I guess I'll take the emblem back home and put it back into storage. Thought you wanted one. Oh, well.
$14 shipped is cheaper than $14.58+postage. While I have it at the office, I'll mail it to the first $14 otherwise it goes back into parts storage.

Thin stamped metal, cupped to match the housing curvature. Has 3M sticky back so it goes right on - once - so do it right the first time.
