The clutch handle of my gs500 is horrible heavy. Even after changing it to a new clutch cable it's still unbearable (upon comparing to other bikes and 'ease of shifting gear').

Now i read about 'easy clutch' from moose and the 'ultimate clutch' from moose aswell and MSR Pro Raptor. Does anybody heavy experience on a heavy clutch ? Does anybody changed their clutch to an MSR / Moose clutch?

I looked for an reseller of MSR Pro / Moose products here in Europe but i can't find anything :(

Did you lube the new cable?
I replaced cables with a custom one to use a 650 perch so I could use an ASV lever. New cable wasn't lubed so felt heavy. Lubed it and all OK.
Also clean up the clutch mechanism on the side cover. It gets pretty gunky from the chain crap.

what did you lube it with? WD40 or motor oil? Sorry for hi jack just seemed like an appropriate question!

also you can adjust the cable somewhat from the screw on the back of the handle..

Norway talks about motoroil or wd40. Obvious he will suggest one above the other right?

Don't use WD40 for this. OK for breaking things loose, but doesn't stick around to lubricate. Oil can be used, but takes awhile to apply.

Get a can of cable lube (the right stuff to use) and a cable lube tool:

(1) If you have a new cable
(2) and the lever moves freely
You may want to remove the cover and take a closer look at the mechanism inside that actually pushes the push rod that releases the clutch (5&6 are inside of it and I forget it's name?) The push rod may even be bent? And when you put it back together adjust everything as in the photo below.  :thumb:
EDIT: Is there a possibility you have High Performance or shimmed (Strong) clutch springs from a previous owner?

+1 to issues other than the cable.

Frankly, I've never had to lubricate a new cable.

Thanks guys. I went over to my mechanic and he suggested to use WD40. He immediatley did that and it feels great now. Noiseguy you reckon this effect won't last very long and use oil instead? Or even better that cable lubricate device.

WD-40 is pretty much 50% Stoddard Solvent with 15+% Mineral Oil (light lubricating oil).

Motor oil in a cable can be too viscous in the cold. I have used this stuff for just about every lube need lately  :thumb:   



But I buy it in the squeeze bottle....
