The original car battery for my 96 Jeep Cherokee lasted 7 years. It was replaced in 2003 by an Interstate 60 month car battery which is still in the vehicle.  I suspect that after 8 years I'll be replacing it soon.

Anyone else using a battery beyond their rated usage life?

every single one of them. most of the time by 2 to 1. i bought. actually got for freee from walmart. one of their premium batteries. my 85 chevy truck battery died. the old one, a walmart battery had the receipt in it. the guy i bought the truck from wanted the battery. i told him im giving you a motorcycle wiht a brand new battery, im taking this one home. anyhoo the receipt err battery still had 4 mos left on its replacement  warranty. i picked out a better one, AND got $15 back. anyhoo fast forward. i ran that battery for almsot a year., then a toyota minivan totals this truck, i get truck off road to my work place, ( battery turned suideways from impact, i came back 4 days later got battery out, took to friends car lot, put it on shelf, ( new car couldnt use it. ) so i gave it to them. anyhoo a year later, they get a suburban in, with a dead battery, i said hmm WTH, i grabbed the battery i put on a shelf, plopped it in there, grabbed the jump box, figuring it was as dead as my lovelife, but hell it started that burb EASILY. and now its still in service. sorry for long winded reply, but i say 2 to 1, meaning if rated for 36 mos, ill gt 72 out of it or more. hot and cold cycles will affect it. ( i cover my batteries with a blanket in winter time when vehicles arent running.
