fork oil seal retaining clip replacement?

Hello. I ruined my front fork oil seal retaining clip. I remember reading somewhere (Haynes maybe? or the actual suzuki manual?) that a simple metal horseshoe ring or something similar can be used instead, just need to grind the "ears" to avoid them scratching the tubes. Ive searched everywhere I can for it, and can not find info on it. Can anyone help? Im looking to find the correct size ring I should get, and any special tips anyone has.

I don't know the exact size.  But internal retaining rings are sized by the diameter of the housing, not the groove.  Should be pretty easy to measure and source.

So, turns out a 50mm standard security ring fits perfectly in the groove. I did need to grind some mmetal to make sure the wide part wont touch the slider  :thumb:
