I changes the bulbs in my tach and speedometer as well as my indicators to LED the other day and in the process screwed up my tach. I disconnected it during the install and now after reconnecting it there is a very large delay in the response time. I can rev it up to 5 or 6k and it takes 10 or 15 seconds to catch up. After letting the engine ggo back to iidle it takes maybe another 20 seconds for the needle to go back to 1200. Any ideas on what I might have done to it? I made sure it was fully attached andthere doesn't appear to be any special way to plug it in

Did the cable fit nicely into the Tach receiver? The only things I can think of are maybe a kink in the cable, or it needs some lubrication.

The cable fits and there are no kinks. I looked at everything a little bit closer and the tach cable spins just fine, but the hole on the gauge is round and the spinning part of the cable is square. Could it just be a worn out receiver on the gauge? I'm considering replacing it with something digital anyways but I'd still like to figure out the problem

Given the timing of the delay, it could be the cable is not inserted correctly, tightened all the way, or routed through the frame right. I would unscrew the cable at both ends, and check it for binding, and then connect it again through the frame so that it's not kinked, or pulled when the bars are turned.

I took the cable totally off and then put it back on and now it works fine. Thanks for the help
