So, I have a problem, my gas lines are a bit weather rotted, they still work. but it seems like I need to replace them, but can I replace them on a budget? a friend had left two water packs, the ones you stick in your back pack and drink water from.. But I was wondering if you could use the rubber tubing for gas lines? the drinking part of the tubing. and the tubes wont rot as much I'd think with water because they are ment to have high water usage threw them.. so also extend the life of the gas lines. But how could I test them to make sure they are okay for this type of usage. :) Anyone have done this?

I wouldn't think of going cheap on fuel line.  :nono: Or experimenting with non-fuel rated tubing.
You know that stuff burns if it leaks and spills all over the place?  :icon_eek:
No way would I take a chance on my bike burning up or a fuel spill leaving me stranded. If the tubing starts to disintegrate on the inside, think what gunk will get into your carbs.
Regular fuel line (BikeBandit, Motorcycle Superstore, your local cycle shop) is $7 to $15 for a 3 foot section. So cheap its not even an issue when you're talking gasoline and safety.

Haha that wouldn't be the only place gas would be leaking ^_^

You want 1/4 inch low pressure fuel line. A bike store will have it or somewhere that does small engine parts/service; Lawnmower fuel line is the same stuff.

Auto parts place might have it. I think my Advanced has clear low pressure fuel line, but it's probably more $ than the black rubber stuff. Don't get the high pressure/fuel injector fuel line though because it will be too thick and again more $.

The bike only needs about 3 feet total, and 2$/ft is probably outrageous (not that a bike place won't charge that though).

You can get clear fuel rated hose. Folks have run clear non-fuel rated line, but it degrades and disintegrates which could led to a fireball like adidasguy said. If your water tube fit, you could do it, but you should probably only do it long enough to ride to the store to get a real fuel line.

I'm just looking to replace mine PachmamP They work no problem.. But they are getting old and before I got it the first PO had left the bike outside for a year or so.. the PO that bought it from that guy cleaned the bike up, but things still need a replacing. and as I go deeper into the bike, it seems the PO before me didn't really know what he was doing... ive found like 3 striped bolts that could of been avoided or changed.. little things, but even the little things count.
